Underpinning Foundations
In modern day society building Structures play a large part of the environment.
These structures though must be supported and the most clever and effective way to do this is often to under pin your foundation as to ensure it does not subside or preclude in the future.
Depending on the particular project, underpinning is often done by excavating under shallow foundations and extending their load-bearing capacity by changing the underlying soil structure with helical screw piling.
Screw piling
Screw piling is particularly useful where special site constraints exists and extra support is needed -
- Zero vibration underpinning is required.
- Lifting of a settled or damaged structure is planned.
- Ground conditions are unsuitable for conventional foundations.
- Restricted access for conventional pile driving equipment.
- The underpinned structure may be subject to significant overturning moments.
- Environmental restrictions (esp. noise and fumes).
- Tension loads must be accommodated.
- Upgrading of foundations/floors for higher loadings.
